How You and I Could Make Beaucoups in 2012

If you’re looking for a fresh way to complement your income in 2012, I’ve got an idea for you. It’s got nothing to do with building a popular blog, selling eBooks and soap, or buying penny stocks.

Na, it’s more organic than that.

I haven’t met your friends, but I know they need better web sites. Since that’s what I do for a living, I want to build them.

So here’s my proposition: you bring your friends, and I’ll pay you 10% of their bill. That’s 10% of my gross revenue for their project.

I’m essentially borrowing your “brand equity” and compensating you for it.

Quick Links

You’ll want to show them my Pricing page to get a feel for my rates. I’m not the cheapest guy on the block, but I’m willing to work within their budget.

You’ll also might want to show them my Portfolio so they can see some of the sites I’ve built.

Who should you send?

Send anyone who’s serious about growing their list and starting out right. Send anyone who already has a site but needs it updated or completed revamped. I’ve built sites for blogger hobbyists, brick and mortar businesses, and even a publicly traded company. You name it, I build it.

How do you get paid?

I’m not one of those people that demands an ID number before I acknowledge you’re human. If you send someone my way, I won’t ignore you. You’ll get your 10% through Paypal or physical check – your choice. You get paid when I get paid. No mysterious hoopla or downtime. I’m a small business. I’m agile and friendly.

It’s a new year, so it’s time to turn up the heat. You ready?

P.S. I’ve talked with Derek and we’ve decided it’s best not to launch a “Social Triggers” theme right now. Instead I’m releasing my own child theme, coded and designed from scratch, and it should be out soon. Since I’m buying this car and starting college this week, I’ve got lots of irons in the fire. Thanks for your patience!

  1. This is great! The best part is the clear pricing table and a clean, neat portfolio. That combined with a friend’s hearty recommendation should be an excellent motivation for anyone wanting a good website.

Next time I run across someone in need of this sort of site, I’ll keep you in mind. Although I’m a web designer myself, I often get too busy to help everyone who contacts me, and I’m always looking for quality designers familiar with WordPress to refer people to. Getting 10% of the sale is just icing on the cake.

    Thanks, Martyn!

  2. Oooh … cool car you’re buying, Martyn!

Love the color. It definitely suits you — the color of “energy” and “power”.

    Readers …
Raise your hand if you don’t want to make beaucoups of bucks in 2012.

Notice my hand is NOT raised. :)

Thanks for the co-marketing opp — sounds great! I checked out your portfolio page (not that I really needed to but my curiosity got the best of me). Scoped out your pricing page, too. Doesn’t look like there’s any price gouging going on here (just pulling your leg, Martyn).

“It’s a new year so it’s time to turn up the heat.”

    My sentiments, exactly.

Wishing you massive joy and buckets full of websites to build in 2012!

I’m really excited about the car. Picking it up tomorrow!

Thanks for the wishes, and be on the lookout for people looking for a new site. You could make an easy $100-300 a pop, you know. ;)

  3. This is good, Martyn, I hope you get some new clients and help some more people out!

I’m excited about this theme you’re releasing! It’s going to be good.

    Also, nice car. :D

    Hey Martyn,

    Really cool stuff man!

Maybe you could sign up to Nanacast (or something like it) to convert your service into an affiliate offer.

Although I think that would mean your business would grow exponentially too and don’t know if that’s a great idea to combine with studies.

Anyway, good luck with your university studies and congrats on getting that rad red car, I bet it’s going to take you some places! ;-)

One of my friends told me my loose policy is a bit shady. I certainly don’t want anybody to feel cheated, so I just might check out Nanacast. Guess there’s a fine balance between being both human and professional.

  5. Hmm… this is a good idea Martyn. I’ve thought about offering “finders fees” to those who send me referrals as well. Instead, I’ve just been surprising people who do send me referrals with big “thank you” gifts.

    • Martyn Chamberlin says:

Interesting. You’ve got me curious now. What sort of “thank you” gifts do you surprise people with?

  6. MamaLaundry says:

Best wishes as you start school this week, Martyn! Love the car ;)

  7. Ritu says:

Good luck on all the irons! I’ll pass the word along for ya!

  8. Trung Nguyen says:

Wow, that’s a great idea for adding an income stream in 2012. BTW, I love your car, I wished I have one, but I prefer the white car.
